New Local Stuttering Group!
Did you know there aren’t any in-person stuttering support/social groups in El Dorado County? Our goal is to make that change!
In this group, your child will:
Learn about stuttering
Your child will learn about the types and characteristics of stuttering. They’ll learn different strategies to use when working toward smooth speech.
Meet other people their age who stutter
Your child will meet similar aged peers who also stutter. They will build relationships and make connections with peers who may have had similar experiences as them.
Gain confidence
Your child will increase their self-confidence and learn that their stutter is a part of them, but that they are not defined by their stutter.
Learn how to self-advocate
Your child will learn about what self-advocacy is and how to advocate for themselves when meeting new people, talking to large groups, and making new friends.
Feel open and safe about talking about their stutter
Many children are scared to talk about their stutter- they may want to hide it. A stuttering group is the perfect place to practice talking about one’s stutter and to feel safe asking questions.
Know they aren’t alone
Many children have never met other children or adults who stutter. They may be the only student at their school who stutters. The goal of this group is to bring children who stutter together so they know they are not alone!
We believe this is an area of need, and would love to help bridge this gap in our community! Please let us know if you would be interested in having your child participate in a stuttering social group.
